Welcome parents and families! We’re excited to kick off a new school year with your child. To help them start the year off strong, please make sure they have the supplies they will need.
Below are the supply lists for the 2026-2027 school year for Gates Middle School. Please note that specific supplies may vary by grade. Your child's teachers may be in touch near the start of the school year with any other supplies that are specific to their class.

Welcome to 6th grade! We are looking forward to a GREAT year! Below is a list of supplies you need for a successful 6th grade year. Teachers may ask for additional items as the school year progresses.
- AGENDA - All students are required to keep an agenda for their homework. It is important for students to develop the skills of keeping and managing an agenda as this helps with planning, prioritizing, initiating and goal setting. Agendas will be provided to sixth grade students. All students will be expected to use their provided agenda.
- BINDERS & NOTEBOOKS
- 1.5” binder
- 1 package of 8 dividers
- 1 composition notebook (or a notebook with sheets that do not tear out) for ELA
- 1 graph-paper spiral notebook for Math, needed all year (recommended 3 total, 1 for each trimester)
- WRITING UTENSILS
- Pens (blue or black) and red/other colored pens for correcting
- Pencils (A LOT, should be replenished each trimester)
- Colored Pencils
- Highlighters
- MISCELLANEOUS SUPPLIES
- Protective & durable Chromebook cover
- Pencil case
- Pencil sharpener
- Headphones to use with Chromebook
- Large eraser
- 1 two-pocket folder for Drama
- 1 notebook for Mandarin (students enrolled in Mandarin only)
- 1 two-pocket folder for homework and other school handouts
- 2 packages 3x3 inch sticky notes in various colors
- 1” black binder with sheet protectors (only if planning to be in Band)
- Optional: colored markers
- Optional: extra Chromebook charger to keep at school
- Optional (maximizes locker space): locker shelf (such as- LockerMate Stac-A-Shelf Locker Organizer Shelf 10"D x 11.25"W x 12"H- Amazon for $10-12)

**Please fill the pencil case with some supplies and leave extra supplies at home to supplement throughout the year.**
**Please do not set up your binders before school starts. We will be doing this together at the beginning of the year.**

Welcome to 7th grade! We are looking forward to a GREAT year! Below is a list of supplies students need for a successful year.
1. AGENDA - It is important for students to develop the skills of keeping and managing an agenda, as this helps with planning, prioritizing, initiating, and goal setting. Agendas will be provided to seventh-grade students. All students will be expected to use the agenda provided.
2. DEVICE - Students should bring their charged SPS-issued Chromebook and charger with them to school each day. Please clearly label chargers with your student’s first and last name. It is recommended that you keep an extra charger at home to charge devices nightly.
3. BINDERS & NOTEBOOKS
- 1 (one-inch) shared binder to be used for all core classes (ELA, Science, Math, Social Studies, and World Language)
- 5 Tabs/Dividers for the 1 shared binder
- 1 package of white wide-lined filler paper
- 1 three-subject, spiral notebook for Math Notes
- TI 30x calculator
- 1 Composition notebook for Science
- 5X7” OR 6X9” Spiral Bound Sketchbook for Art
4. WRITING UTENSILS
- Pencil bag or pencil box **
- Pens (blue or black)
- Pencils (mechanical or regular)
- Highlighters

5. ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES
- 1 folder for loose papers
- 1 two-pocket folder for Drama
- 1 (½ inch) binder and plug-in headphones for Music
- Handheld pencil sharpener
- 3 posters (including at least 1 trifold needed at the end of the year) - remaining 2 posters can be paper or styrofoam (any color)
Band students only - 1” Black Binder with sheet protectors (can use the same one from previous years)
6. CLASSROOM SUPPLIES to be given to your child’s homebase teacher
- 1 box of tissues or 1 container of disinfecting wipes
- 1 pack sharpened pencils

We would also greatly appreciate it if you could send in a box of tissues, disinfecting wipes, and/or a pack of pencils for your home base.
